Alpaugh Irrigation District

About The District

Alpaugh Irrigation District was form in March 1915. The District is based of 10,000 Acres in Tulare County. 

  • Assessments:  All property located within the Alpaugh Irrigation District (AID) boundries are subject to assessments. 
      These assessments are to cover the basic annual expenses of the District.  The current assessment is $18.00 per acre      
      (annual), billed in two increments of $9.00 per acre, on December 20th and June 20th of each year.  These assessments are
      separate from irrigation charges, and must be paid eben if you choose not to receive irrigation water.

  • Advance Payment:  To be eligible to receive irrigation water, assessments must be paid and an advance water payment is                required before February 1st of every year.  If this advance payment is paid after February 1st there is a 30-day waiting period, meaning you will not receive water until 30-days after payment is made.  This advance payment is used to secure water for the current water seaon.  It is based off of the number of acres you are looking to farm.  The current advance payment rate is $37.50 per acre. 

  • Irrigation Water Cost:  Irrigation water is $150 per acre foot of water.  An acre foot of water is 325,851 gallons.                                    (Irrigation water rate may change at any time)

  • Water Allotment:  AID calculates the amount of water you will receive, using a simple equation that includes for the following inforamtion:  Water being produced by AID wells; water stored in reservoirs; number of acres that are eligible to receive water; and length of irrigation season.  It is the District's goal to provide water through October each year.  It is the grower's reponsibility to manage their water supply in regards to their farming operation. 

  • Water Ordering Process:  After assessments are paid, and the advance payment has been made, you can call the District office and schedule your water delivery.  If you have a meterm your meter will be read each Monday by AID's Irrigation System Operator.

  • Acceptable Payment Methods:  Acceptable payment methods are checks, cashier's check, and money orderS, make payable to Alpaugh Irrigation District.  NO CASH.
